ChainCensus sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and has no accounts, logins or newsletter. There is no tracking pixel on this site and nothing is sold to anyone. This page exists to describe the small amount that is left.
What stays in your browser
One thing: your light/dark theme choice, saved in localStorage under theme. It
never leaves your device and we never read it — the page reads it to avoid flashing
the wrong colours at you. Clearing site data removes it.
Tool inputs — the amount in the DCA Calculator, the frequency in the Fee Comparator — are computed in your browser and never sent to us or stored anywhere.
What our server sees
Standard web-server access logs: IP address, the page requested, timestamp, user agent, referrer. Every website's server keeps these; ours are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse, are not linked to anything else, and are not shared.
Where a third party sees you
Two places, both because a tool needs live market data and asks for it from your browser:
- The DCA Calculator requests historical prices from CoinGecko's public API. That request comes from your browser, so CoinGecko sees your IP address and applies its own privacy policy. We pass no information about you along with it.
- Embedded charts on other people's sites load from
chaincensus.com, so our server logs (above) record the request. The embed itself sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties.
The Fee Comparator and every data page read our own API — nobody else is involved.
Fonts, hosting, email
Fonts are served from our own domain, not Google Fonts. The site runs on a single server we operate. Mail sent to [email protected] reaches a normal mailbox and is kept until it's dealt with; we don't add correspondents to any list, because there isn't one.
Your rights
There's no account to delete and no profile to export — we hold no personal data beyond the server logs described above, which age out. If you want to know whether your address appears in a log, or want it removed, write to [email protected] and we'll do it.
Changes
If this ever stops being true — an analytics tool, a newsletter — this page changes first, with the date at the top, and the change is described here rather than quietly folded in.
