Right now this site earns nothing. There are no affiliate links on ChainCensus today — every product link in every ranking goes straight to the official site, unmonetised. This page describes what happens when that changes, so the rules exist before the money does.
Where affiliate links may appear
Only in the Best section — rankings of products like wallets. Never on a data page, a methodology page, an article, or in the API. The pages journalists cite stay commercially clean, permanently.
When a link is monetised it is marked on the page, carries rel="sponsored nofollow", and
the page says so above the ranking. If a ranking has no affiliate links, it says that too.
The rules
- Commission never buys a rank. Scores come from documented criteria — firmware licence, audits, published specs, incident history — and each ranking lists its criteria and weights. A product that pays nothing can rank first, and does.
- No vendor sees a draft. Nobody gets a preview, a right of reply before publication, or a chance to buy a change afterwards.
- No paid placements, ever. If someone offers money for a spot, the answer is no. That's not principle, it's arithmetic: this site's only real asset is being worth citing.
- We don't test what we rank, and we don't pretend to. Rankings compare documented facts. If that ever changes — if devices get bought and used — the page will say which ones.
- Removing a link never changes a verdict. If a programme ends, the ranking stays as it is.
Why tell you this now
A disclosure written after the money arrives is a negotiation with yourself. Written first, it's a constraint. If you ever find a ranking here that looks bought, mail [email protected] and say so — that's a bug report about the only thing this site sells.
